Use Team Photos as a Marketing Tool

Just because the game is over, does not mean you should stop marketing your escape room! Taking a team photo at the end of a game is an important step that serves many purposes:

Taking a good team photo is part of good customer service.

Players have spent time and money coming to your escape room and they want a souvenir. Players appreciate it when you make the effort to take a GOOD team photo. For example, make sure you capture everyone looking at the camera, make sure there are no objects in the way, and encourage players to pose with attractive facial expressions. The team photo is part of the overall experience, and you want to make sure every part of your escape room is high quality.

Team photos can act as reviews.

Glowing smiles from ear to ear indicate that players had fun at your escape room. Even if that team fails to leave a written review, their happy faces are a form of positive critique. Conversely, if the photos on your social media pages show players with bored/vacant expressions it reflects poorly on your escape room.

You can use team photos for marketing.

Team photos are not just a souvenir for players, they are a tool for you to attract future players. It disappoints me when escape room staff merely take photos with the players’ phones and let the players walk away with the valuable photo. When you take the photo with your own device, you can use it for marketing purposes.

First, you can send the team photo to players in a follow-up email. This is great opportunity to communicate with players and encourage them to play another game at your site, or recommend it to their friends.

Second, you can post the photo to all of your social media sites to increase your online presence and attract new players. It is very important to post new and relevant content to your website and social media outlets in order to increase search engine optimization (SEO).

Finally, the photo itself can advertise your company. Our EscapeAssist Software includes tools to customize team photos—by adding your escape room logo, the team name, escape time, etc. The majority of people respond to visuals, and any chance to get your logo out there is a huge bonus.
